How to Pick the Right Broom for Your Broominator or Broominator JR
Getting crisp, professional-looking stripes comes down to one key factor: broom width. The industry standard for effective striping is to cover the outer distance between your mower's back tires - anything narrower leaves visible gaps in your stripe pattern, and anything much wider is unnecessary.
Broominator (Riding Mowers & Zero-Turns)
Our Founders' Edition ships with a custom-cut 36" block broom, which covers this distance adequately on the majority of riding mowers and zero-turns. If you're building your own setup or if you purchased the non-founders' edition, here's what we recommend:
36" broom (recommended for most mowers):
- 36" broom — our top pick
- Alternate 36" option — if the first is out of stock
For decks outside the standard range:
If your mower's deck falls at the extreme end (very wide or very narrow), pairing two brooms side by side covers the distance properly:
- 2× 24" brooms for 48" decks
- 2× 30" brooms for 60" decks
- PRO SOURCE Heavy Duty Rough-Surface Push Broom Head with Threaded Block: 30" Wide
When running two brooms together, we suggest joining them with a mending brace for a solid, stable connection: RELIABILT 6" Zinc-Plated Steel Mending Brace (Lowe's)
